How to get to Pļaviņas?

Plaviņas is 120 km from the capital Riga. From Riga, Plaviņas can be reached by the A6 Riga-Daugavpils motorway, the P80 Tīnūži-Koknese motorway (a section of the E22 motorway from Riga to the eastern border of Latvia) and then the A6 Riga- Daugavpils motorway, as well as by rail.

•  By train. Get off at the railway station "Pļaviņas".

From Riga railway station trains with termini Daugavpils, Zilupe, Krustpils, Rezekne, Indra, Gulbene. Journey time from 1.25h to 2.03h. More information at https://www.pv.lv/

On arrival at Plavinas railway station, take Stacijas Street towards the level crossing, then take Odzienas Street to the right towards the Daugava River. You will see the Pļaviņas Culture Centre, where the Pļaviņas Tourist Information Point is located on the right from the main door. The distance on foot takes about 6 minutes

• By bus.  Get off at Plavinas station square. Buses terminating in Aglona, Daugavpils, Jēkabpils, Krāslava, Līvāni, Lubāna, Madona, Preiļi, Rezekne, Kārsava. The journey duration is from 1.48h to 2.23h.More information at www.1188.lv and https://www.autoosta.lv/.

 From Pļaviņas Station Square Pļaviņas Tourist Information Point can be reached on foot in 6 minutes, walking along Stacijas Street towards the railway crossing, then along Odzienas Street turn right towards Daugava. You will see the Pļaviņas Culture Centre, where the Pļaviņas Tourist Information Point is located on the right from the main door.

• By public bus.

Information for cyclists:
Bicycles are allowed on public transport, trains and buses, subject to the rules and charges established by the passenger transport organisations.
If you want to carry your bicycle on the train, you need to buy a luggage ticket. Please note that the bicycle must be carried in a carriage with special bicycle racks and the number of racks must be equal to the number of bicycles carried. If the passenger train is not equipped with bicycle racks, the maximum number of bicycles carried in the carriage shall not exceed 5 bicycles. Groups of more than 15 cyclists should call 67232135 48 hours before the journey to arrange access to the required station.
