Jaunjelgava Tourism Information point

The Jaunjelgava Tourism Information Point offers up-to-date information on tourism opportunities in the town of Jaunjelgava, the surrounding municipal area, Aizkraukle Municipality, and other regions of Latvia. Visitors can also access a wide range of free brochures and tourism publications.

At the tourism information point, visitors can learn more about the cultural and historical heritage of Jaunjelgava and the neighbouring parishes of Sērene, Sece, Sunākste, Daudzeva, and Staburags. Here, everyone can discover the answer to the question: Why is Jaunjelgava not located next to Jelgava?

The spacious premises also feature a souvenir shop where visitors can purchase memorabilia bearing Jaunjelgava’s symbols, as well as handicrafts created by local artisans. In the adjacent exhibition room, changing exhibitions can be viewed throughout the year.

Visitors are also invited to embark on a virtual journey to 30 locations across Aizkraukle Municipality using digital reality headsets. Meanwhile, an interactive digital display introduces the natural and cultural heritage sites along the banks of the River Daugava that were lost following the construction of the Pļaviņas Hydroelectric Power Plant, in the stretch between Aizkraukle and Staburags.
