What is “Roadgames”?

A weekend guide in the form of a competition! “Roadgames” offers a new way to explore Latvia, taking you not only to well-known and noteworthy attractions, but also helping you discover new and hidden gems. With “Roadgames”, exploring Latvia becomes an exciting game and an engaging adventure for participants of different ages and interests. The games are available 24/7, so you can start whenever it is most convenient for you.

How to play “Roadgames”?

Download the “Roadgames” app and open the relevant game. Add team members (2–4 players) and start the game anywhere within the game area! Mobile data and location services must be enabled.

Two “Roadgames” games are available in Sēlija, Aizkraukle Municipality:

A Postcard from the Countryside: Viesīte – Sauka – Aknīste

Imagine receiving a postcard from your old, resilient and endlessly beloved country grandmother. On the postcard is a truly Latvian farmstead — cows are grazing, chickens are running around, and in your imagination you can even hear a rooster crowing.

A similar feeling may accompany you as you drive this orienteering game through the ancient and culturally rich region of Sēlija. During the game, you will follow in the footsteps of the characters from Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš’ The White Book, encounter a sturdy goat, a proud rooster and a little foal, and reach the homeland of another important figure in Latvian cultural history — Vecais Stenders.

Lakes, rivers, mill ponds, centuries-old churches, modern monuments and many other rural treasures await you. Step into the postcard and discover Sēlija for yourself!

Ancient Sēlija: Daudzeva – Jēkabpils – Rubeņi

A treasure hunt through Sēlija is a real treat for those who love stories from times gone by. Follow the trail of the Struve Geodetic Arc points, included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and discover how the Sun and stars were used to measure the Earth in ancient times.
