The history of the Erberge manor in Mazzalve parish dates back to the middle of the 15th century. Over the years, several families of German-Baltic barons have farmed there - at one time it was called Taube Manor in honour of its owners, the Taubes, and the people of the manor were called Taubians. In 1806, the place was bought by the von Hahns, an old German-Baltic family that had immigrated to Livonia in the 14th century and owned several estates in Kurzeme, Zemgale and Russia. The oldest witness of the Erberge estate is a substantial oak tree, which is more than 300 years old.
