Creative house

The Creative House offers:

• Celebrations of traditional Latvian seasonal festivals – Meteņi, Easter, Ūsiņi, Jāņi (Midsummer), Miķeļi and Christmas, as well as the honouring of the ancestral spirits during the traditional Veļu laiks season;
• Organisation of traditional family ceremonies, including christening ceremonies, wedding ceremonies and Mārtošana (traditional coming-of-age celebrations);
• Craft workshops (spinning, winding yarn, crocheting, knitting, weaving, macramé, embroidery, paper folding, painting, leather bracelet making, straw decorations, calligraphy with a quill pen and more);
• Music lessons in playing the kokle (traditional Latvian zither), accordion, recorder and mandolin;
• Seminars on Latvian traditional festivals, family celebrations, games, folk dances and dancing traditions;
• Traditional games and play activities;
• Introduction to Latvian culinary heritage.
