Jaunjelgava Baptist Church is a place of worship with a history spanning more than a century. The church was built in 1878 using funds raised by the congregation. During the Soviet occupation, in the 1960s, the building was confiscated and adapted for practical purposes, serving first as a school cafeteria and later as a veterinary pharmacy. Following the restoration of Latvia’s independence in 1991, the church was returned to the congregation, which undertook its restoration and expansion. Today, visitors are drawn to the church’s beautiful wooden interior and its peaceful atmosphere.
Guided tours must be booked in advance.
