Jaunjelgava historical city centre

Jaunjelgava Historic Centre is a nationally significant urban planning monument dating from the 17th to 19th centuries, preserving the town’s unique cultural and historical character. Visitors can explore the Church of the Transfiguration of Christ of the Orthodox Parish of Jaunjelgava, the Jaunjelgava Baptist Church, the memorial stele “To the Heroes of the War of Independence”, the monument to Teodors Hermanovskis, the first Minister of Transport and Labour of the Republic of Latvia, as well as the memorial site near the former Great Synagogue building. The town can be discovered through a guided tour, which must be booked in advance.
