Sērene, August 2nd
Various activities are planned as part of the parish festival starting from 11.00 in the morning - the opening of the mantel chimney sign, various sports activities, a foam party, creative workshops, pony rides, a theatre performance, festive concerts, the awarding of the winners of the competition “The tidiest yard, garden and multi-apartment house in Sērene 2025” and sports competitions, and a ball at the end of the day!
Come, celebrate and discover what else Sērene has to offer! Sērene Parish is proud not only of its creative people, but also of its location close to the Daugava River, its picturesque surroundings and the cultural and historical attractions in the parish that continue to attract travellers. For example, the Sērene karsta fall, the Korkuli dry bed and the underground river, where the water literally disappears underground, only to resurface after a while, the Sērene Swedish money stone, "overgrown" with stories and myths. The Local History Room in the Folk House is also of interest, where you can find out more about the history of the parish. Sērene was established on the territory of the former Jaunsērene manor "Neu-Sehren". The Folk House and the parish library are located in the more than 100-year-old "Vāverkrogs" building. In the past, Sērene was also home to a large manor house. However, little has survived. Thanks to the association "Sērenes ļaudis", the manor house mantel chimney in the property "Priedulāji" has been cleaned up. The chimney was built in the 18th century for the kitchen, where meat was hung on cross-beams for smoking. The chimney sign will be opened as part of the parish festival.
All are welcome to explore, discover and celebrate!
