The Pļaviņas flood protection embankment, stretching for just under 2 km, is ideal for walks, relaxing and enjoying views of the Daugava River. Informative displays and various environmental objects are located along the entire embankment, adding interest to the walk and offering opportunities to capture beautiful views. A raft model placed on boulders is accompanied by an information board featuring stories of river rafters and historical photographs. In the past, the section of the Daugava between Pļaviņas and Koknese was one of the most challenging stretches for river rafters, characterised by rapids and rocky riverbanks rising up to 20 metres.
Stylised bicycles are also placed along the embankment, serving both as photo spots and bicycle parking facilities. The colourful flower arches have become one of the distinctive symbols of Pļaviņas, decorating the embankment from early spring until the first snowfall. The landscape is further enhanced by a photo frame, which blends naturally into the surroundings and is popular with both local residents and visitors to the town.
A landscaped viewing area has been created at the confluence of the Daugava and Aiviekste rivers, featuring an oversized chair, a small bridge and a fence, as well as a small parking area.
