Jaunjelgava Lutheran church, also called Martin’s White church

St. Martin the White Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jaunjelgava is unique as one of the few churches in Latvia built during the Soviet era. The church was consecrated in April 1957, on White Sunday, at a time when Soviet authorities were carrying out repressive policies against religious institutions. Initially, the church had no tower; the tower was added in 1960.
