Jaunasmuizas oak

The oak tree was named after the poet Ausekļa in the 1970s by Imants Ziedonis's group of beech tree liberators. The poet visited and even lived in the school of Juris Kalniņš (pseudonym Prātkopis), a parish school teacher in Vietalva, several times between 1873 and 1875. And since this oak tree was located near the school, Auseklis often visited this place. This is how the oak got its name. Poetry Day events are also held under the oak's bushy branches.
