A Military Parade Will Take Place in Aizkraukle on May 4

For the 15th time, on May 4 – Latvia’s Restoration of Independence Day – the National Armed Forces Day is organized in one of the regions of Latvia. This year, the military parade will take place in Aizkraukle!

The parade, featuring more than 600 soldiers, National Guard members, border guards, police officers, firefighters and rescue personnel, and other participants, will be commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Pēteris Suveizda, Commander of the National Guard’s 3rd Latgale Brigade. It will be received by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds, and Commander of the National Armed Forces, Major General Kaspars Pudāns.

More than 20 units from the armed forces of Latvia and the United States, as well as the State Border Guard, State Police, and State Fire and Rescue Service, along with their equipment, will also take part in the parade. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the National Armed Forces orchestra.

Weather permitting, the demonstration will be opened by a flyover of NATO Baltic Air Policing aircraft above the Daugava River, followed by flyovers of aircraft from the Latvian and allied armed forces and the State Border Guard.

The Aizkraukle Municipality invites craftsmen and home producers to apply for the market taking place on May 4 on Spīdolas Street from 09:00 to 15:00. Applications can be submitted by filling in the application form or by emailing: dome@aizkraukle.lv
