Aizkraukle Municipality joins travel campaign "Discover Your Neighbors in Zemgale!"

For the tenth year in a row, the tourism travel campaign “Discover Your Neighbours in Zemgale!” will take place in the Latvia–Lithuania border region. To mark the campaign’s tenth anniversary, its territory in Latvia has been expanded this year to include the municipalities of Aizkraukle, Jelgava, and Dobele. In line with this expansion, a new logo has also been created for the campaign.

As usual, residents of both Latvia and Lithuania are invited to explore new places and attractions in the municipalities of Aizkraukle, Bauska, Jelgava, and Dobele in Latvia, as well as in the districts of Joniškis, Biržai, Pakruojis, and Pasvalys in Lithuania.

The aim of the project is to promote tourism development in the Latvia–Lithuania border region by creating a joint tourism route and promoting tourist attractions and businesses.

From April 1 to September 15, 2026, interested participants are invited to join the campaign and travel around the region by visiting the designated sites and collecting stamps in the campaign map. To enter the prize draw, participants must visit all 24 locations across eight municipalities and take a selfie at each site.

Curious residents of Latvia and Lithuania are encouraged to participate in the tourism campaign—whether with family, friends, or individually. Campaign brochures will be available at the tourism information centers of the participating municipalities. Completed campaign maps must be submitted to one of these tourism information centers by September 15.

By submitting the campaign brochure, participants will have the chance to win one of the following prizes:

• 8 bicycles
• 8 travel bags
• 8 camping tents (tourist class)
• 8 sets of Nordic walking poles

The winners will be announced on September 21. The closing event of the travel campaign, including the prize ceremony, will take place on October 3, 2026, during the Dobele Apple Festival.
