Vietalva, first mentioned in written sources in 1361, is one of the oldest documented settlements in the present-day Aizkraukle Municipality. According to local legend, tin was once sought along the banks of the Veseta River, and the name Vietalva may have originated from the phrase “the place of tin.” In Latvian it sounds different- better. Today, the Vietalva area attracts visitors with its rich history and picturesque landscapes.
