Start July in full bloom – Daylily Festival in Staburags and Jaunjelgava City Festival are just around the corner!

The first month of summer, June, has flown by on the wings of the wind, yet it feels as though summer has only just begun. July promises to be rich with events and diverse happenings as well. Already on July 11, we will celebrate the Daylily Festival in Staburags, at the memorial site of the Staburags cliff, “God’s Ear”. From July 24 to 26, over the course of three days, we will celebrate the Jaunjelgava City Festival, marking the city’s 379th anniversary! This will be a wonderful opportunity to discover and experience one of the newest and most remarkable places of the Jaunjelgava municipality – Staburags Parish and the city of Jaunjelgava.


Daylily Festival Program: 

July 11 at 7:00 PM, at the Staburags cliff memorial site “God’s Ear”.

In July, the blooming of daylilies reaches its peak. This will be the perfect time to enjoy the beautiful flowers accompanied by music from the group Jumis, to reflect on memories of the Staburags cliff, and to cherish time together in the Grove of Unity, where former Presidents of Latvia have each planted their own oak tree. A special highlight of the event will be the glass artworks of artist Ingrīda Degtjarova, presented by the glass workshop of the association Ūdenszīmes.


Jaunjelgava City Festival Program:

July 24, Old Town Park:

8:00 PM, Old Town Park – Opening of the festival and the gathering of married couples as part of the initiative “We Said ‘Yes’ in Jaunjelgava”, followed by a concert by Jānis Moisejs.

10:00 PM – Concert by singer ATVARA.


July 25, Old Town Park:

10:00 AM – City awakening “Breath and Rhythm”. A morning to inhale calm and dance out energy!

11:00 AM – 5:00 PM – City festival market.

11:00 AM – 5:00 PM – Wooden robot-making workshop with woodworking craftsman Toms Plaudis. Inflatable attractions with Draugu atrakcijas, drift karting with sports club Noķer mani, and other surprises. Please note that some attractions will be paid.

11:00 AM“Aizkraukle Region’s Baby” – welcoming the youngest members of the Jaunjelgava association together with young dancers from the cultural centre dance group Kodoliņš!

12:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Individual sports activities in cooperation with Sporto Jaunjelgava, Daudzeva!

12:30 PM – Puppet theatre performance for children “The Life of Gnomes”.

1:00 PM – 1:30 PM – Concert by the line dance group Heartbeatline.

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM – Parade by the motorcycle club Zemgaļu Leģions.

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM – Festive concert of the cultural centre’s amateur groups.

3:30 PM – Awards ceremony for individual sports disciplines.


Linden Park:

July 25, 8:00 PM – Closing concert of the festival with Aija Andrejeva and accompanying musicians, followed by “Singapūras Satīns”, and an evening dance party with the band “Tranzīts”. Admission to the event at Linden Park – €10.  Children up to 7 years – free entry. Tickets are available in advance at the Jaunjelgava Tourist Information Point, at Biļešu paradīze ticket offices, or on the day of the event at the venue (cash payments only on-site).


July 26, Jaunjelgava Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church

4:00 PM – Performance by SHIPSEA together with singer Una Daniela. Admission with free tickets (reserve your tickets by calling Linda at +371 29150598).
