Kempings Annas klints, Klintaines pagasts, Aizkraukles novads, Latvija, LV-5129

From the campsite "Annas Klints," you can now embark on an unforgettable journey along the Daugava River aboard a mighty Viking longship, wrapped in legends, myths, and heroic tales.

This scenic trip will take you past Oliņkalns Hillfort, Sēlpils Hillfort, and the many charming bends and bays of the Daugava. A guide will accompany you throughout the journey, offering insight into what the Daugava used to be like before the construction of the Pļaviņas Hydroelectric Power Plant.

The Viking ship tour lasts approximately one hour.
The route begins at Annas Klints (also known as Wolf’s Cape), then continues past Kraukļa Cliff and the Krustalīši Cliffs, which stretch for over a kilometer on both banks of the river — in Vidzeme and in Sēlija. These vertical cliffs are unusual in the landscape of modern-day Latvia and offer outstanding views, but they are best seen from the river — either by boat in summer or from the frozen reservoir in winter.

Next comes Sēlpils — an ancient Selonian settlement on the left bank of the Daugava opposite Oliņkalns. In 1207, it was destroyed by the Germans on the orders of Bishop Albert of Riga. You’ll also get a chance to see Oliņkalns, the largest and most impressive hillfort in Latvia — possibly in the entire Baltic region.

At the "Annas Klints" campsite, you can also rent a variety of boats, including single and double kayaks, sit-on-top kayaks, canoes, inflatable boats, and traditional wooden rowboats. You can leave your vehicle at the campsite, pitch a tent, park a camper van, and enjoy other exciting leisure activities.

"Mežmalu Taka" offers outdoor activities such as:

  • Bicycle rental (including helmets and child seats) and trekking pole rental. Route length: 10 km

  • Air rifle shooting

  • Archery

  • Daugava orienteering course — for runners and cyclists
