Marija Bridge

Skolas iela, Ērberģe, Mazzalves pagasts, Aizkraukles novads, Latvija

The Marija Bridge over the Suseja River in Ērberģe was gifted by Baron Hahn to his wife Marija on her birthday in 1874. The original bridge had large arches and flower stands, but in 1944 it was blown up by the German army during their retreat. A temporary wooden bridge was then built. Later, a new masonry bridge was constructed on the exact site of the old one, retaining its original name. However, the stone structures and the rounded ends of the bridge have been preserved from the first bridge built in the 19th century. The bridge was reconstructed in 2022.

Every year on July 22 (regardless of the day of the week), when Marijas celebrate their name day, the Marija Bridge Festival is held in Ērberģe. Everyone is also invited to visit Ērberģe on July 22, 2023.
