When the weather outside is cold and grey, and the gloomy skies invite you to seek shelter indoors, the Pļaviņas Tourism Information Centre becomes a place where you can take your time discovering the stories woven into the history of the Pļaviņas region, as well as the people whose skills enrich our local cultural landscape.

Until 28 November, you are welcome to visit the exhibition of works by craft master Inta Piļjanovska. The exhibition features her earliest creations, reflecting deep respect for traditions and a love for handcrafting, as well as refined pieces that have adorned participants of the Song and Dance Celebration. The display also includes her latest, recently completed works. It is a unique opportunity to observe the fineness of handmade craftsmanship, the interplay of colours, and the diversity of traditional patterns up close.

While visiting the information centre, we also invite you to explore the permanent exhibition, which offers a new perspective on the history of Pļaviņas and its surroundings. Here you will find stories and photographs about Bebruleja and Oliņkalns, a glimpse into the Daugava Canyon before and after the flooding, as well as impressive images documenting the largest floods in the history of Pļaviņas.

At the Pļaviņas Tourism Information Centre, you can also purchase a wide selection of souvenirs – pens, notebooks, magnets, keychains, mugs, and other gifts featuring Pļaviņas motifs. Special attention should be given to the candles created by the youth of the Pļaviņas Day Care Centre. Their assortment includes classic and aromatic soy candles in jars, as well as designs dedicated to national holidays and Christmas. Each product is the result of the young people’s initiative, learning, and creativity. By supporting their work, you support their growth.

Candles can be purchased on-site or ordered by calling +371 26495892.

For those interested in applied arts, it is also possible to arrange a visit to the “Skanstupe” Applied Arts Group. Here you can view finished weaving works (rugs, blankets, towels) and handmade items (socks, mittens), as well as observe the creative process in person – how patterns, colours, and textures are born, giving each crafted piece its own character.

 Appointments: +371 28705256.
