A particularly lively atmosphere filled Mulda Village today as local community members gathered at the homestead “Lindas” to celebrate the unveiling of a new information board featuring digital content and an environmental art object – the village devil, who will henceforth guard the stories, legends, and folklore of Mulda, inviting everyone to discover the village’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
The new information board will serve as a guide for visitors to the village. It features a map of the surrounding area, information about local points of interest, and traditional legends connected to the village. By scanning the QR code placed on the devil sculpture, visitors are invited, accompanied by his welcoming words, to embark on a leisurely and informative walk through Mulda Village, at the heart of which stands the legendary Grey Giant – the Meļķitāri Mulda Stone.
Listen carefully – can you hear the measured footsteps of the old master somewhere nearby? Is there still a spark of dreams lingering in the air, left behind by the fiery dance of a gypsy woman? Were those the laughter of little witches echoing in the distance? Or perhaps, out in the meadow, one of the master's long-hidden gold coins has just caught the sunlight?
Come and see for yourself – the Meļķitāri Mulda Stone is not merely a sightseeing attraction; it is an experience to be felt and discovered.
The new information board and environmental art object represent another important step in strengthening the identity of Mulda Village, preserving and promoting local folklore, history, and natural heritage. They invite visitors to explore the surroundings, experience the unique atmosphere of the area, and discover this place through its ancient stories and legends.
On the warm summer evening, the area around “Lindas” was filled with cheerful conversations, laughter, and shared moments. Guests enjoyed the premiere of the digital audio guide, captured memories in photographs, and savoured soup prepared over an open fire. The event once again demonstrated that the greatest treasure of Mulda Village is its people, whose dedication, enthusiasm, and heartfelt commitment continue to shape the story of the village.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the active residents of Mulda Village and the financial support of the Aizkraukle Municipality. Special thanks to Anita, Igors, Kaspars, Guna, Laimdota, and the entire Mulda Village community for their hard work, enthusiasm, and love for their village.
May the stories of Mulda Village inspire many travellers and seekers of legends for years to come!
