Project aim:

To enhance the role of the lost and not seen any more cultural and historical heritage in Zemgale and Northern Lithuania trough developing interactive, digitally and socially available tourism products and joint route increasing the number of visitors and overnight stays in Programme area.

 

Project description:

The project uses modern technologies to offer a unique experience, attracting more tourists and encouraging longer stays. The project will support 20 sites, including Koknese Castle ruins, Garsene Manor, Cherkesas-Besparnis Manor, and other sites in Bauska, Akmene, and Jelgava region.

Within the project is planned the development of interactive digital tourism products and the digital availability of lost cultural heritage objects by improving the digital accessibility of tourist destinations in 7project partners' territories:

  • Developed and created 4 objects with digital 3D models with included animation and sound effects, 1 digital stand and developed 2 games "Weigh and measure" for exposition in Bauska town hall/TIC
  • 12 augmented reality (AR) 3D storytelling stops about Juozas Čerkesas-Besparnis manor
  • Developed mobile application with 3D reality in Rokiskis manor ensemble, virtual walk along the historical roads of the Tyzenhauz family
  • Developed augmented reality (AR) products about Koknese castle ruins, purchased digital, mobile stand places in Koknese castle ruins, radio guides
  • installed 7 interactive metal stands with QR codes in Akmene;
  • created detailed 3D spatial object of the ghost "Blue Lady" in Garsene manor with geolocation by Garsene manor in AR solution, purchased and installed outdoor tourist information point available 24/7, developed audio-guided walking and cycling route along Garsene village, installation of outdoor visitor counters/ flow meters
  • Developed digital projection on the piano by playing 19th-century music in Lielplatone manor, developed interactive “window” screen in Lielvircava manor.


The project will enhance the digital competencies of the tourism sector through various training sessions, workshops, and study visits:

  • 2 online training in Zemgale and Panevezys to improve digital skills
  • 4 practical training on digital skills for promoting tourism objects and products in Bauska and Jekabpils, Rokiskis and Panvezys
  • 2 training about social accessibility in digital environment in Zemgale and Šauliai
  • 2 workshops about digital solutions for collection entrance fees in Jelgava and Akmene 
  • 3 local workshops about digital technology solutions and innovations in Bauska, Aizkraukle, and Akmene.


To share good practices about potential and existing digital solutions within partners' territories, to get more information about developed tourism products and digital tourism offers, development and inclusion of historical objects, as well as social inclusion measures for tourism objects, 4 Study visits will be organized in Bauska, Jekabpils, Panevezys and Rokiskis.


The joint interactive tourism route on lost culture heritage objects will be developed and printed on the map in ENG, LV, LT, organized promotional events of the newly created digital solutions in each project partners’ territory.


To promote joint route and project partners' improved sites, a joint travel contest will be organized in Zemgale and Lithuania on the partners’ territory, as well as 4 publicity campaigns for promoting elaborated tourism route and objects in Latvia, Panevezys, Rokiskis and Akmene un 2 promotional tours for journalists, bloggers, guides in Zemgale and Panevezys.

 

Project budget: 752 295,17 EUR.

Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund: 601 836,13 EUR.
