Jānis Krumbergs, a tractor driver of the then collective farm “Aizkraukle”, brought the stone from the Daugava Valley to the Aizkraukle Parish Culture House on his personal initiative in 1989. The chairman of the collective farm, Jānis Ozoliņš, with the support of the board, ordered the local master of monuments Voldemārs Stiliņš to carve the text into a stone and design it.
