From 9:00 a.m. throughout the day, Koknese Park will host a digital orienteering adventure with new augmented reality objects that bring back to life the lost stories of nature, history, and culture.

Orienteering is intended for teams of at least two participants. To take part, two phones are needed: one for the orienteering app, the other for scanning QR codes in virtual reality solutions. On the day of the event, by downloading the “Actionbound” app and scanning the QR code at the castle ruins’ visitor service house, participants will be able to set off on an exciting orienteering game through Koknese Park. By following the clues, they can uncover lost history and spend an active day in nature. The three best teams will receive surprise prizes after the event.

At 10:30 a.m., the official opening ceremony will take place at Koknese Castle ruins, featuring welcome speeches and a first look at the digital solutions.

From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., visitors are invited to take boat trips along the Daugava and Pērse rivers to view Koknese’s landscapes and revived objects from a different perspective. Departures are scheduled at 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, and 2:00 from the pier near the Koknese Castle ruins.

From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be an opportunity to experience a medieval adventure at the Koknese Castle ruins – try on armor, look at weapons, peek into soldiers’ tents, play ancient board games, practice archery, taste medieval dishes, and learn about the mysterious daily life of the order’s brothers.

The event is implemented within the project LL-00061 “Digitally Accessible and Attractive Tourism Destinations of Lost Cultural Heritage in Zemgale and Northern Lithuania” (Reclaimed History), with financial support from the European Union. Aizkraukle Municipality is fully responsible for the content, which may not reflect the views of the European Union.
